The life of a hard working horsey girl juggling work, mental health, a chronic bowel disease & a horse
From the age of 9 I have been smitten with horses. I have had the privilege of working on some amazing yards over the years, including riding schools, dressage, hunting, stud, rehab & polo. Working with horses is like nothing else. But it sure does take a toll on your body. I have always flicked between "normal" jobs & horsey jobs, trying to find that perfect balance between the two but it just never worked out (for me). Horses are my passion but I've never really felt like I belonged anywhere. Too many times I have worked myself to burnout & my work goes unappreciated. Its soul destroying.
In February 2022 I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis (I personally believe this was the result of my body being in constant stress for years, but that's another story) which made things even harder. For two years I struggled on, working my ass off for little reward. For any of you who have any kind of life long condition you will probably understand how even day to day tasks are so incredibly exhausting. My day/days off were not days off! I had a horse to do & just doing the laundry, cleaning, shopping really knocked the energy out of me, I had no time to actually rest. Forward to February 2024 & I couldn't continue any longer. The mental & physical burnout hit me hard. I quit my job on the spot, I could not face another day at work. The exhaustion stirred up a lot of past trauma for me too. Made me realise a few things about myself & why I do the things I do. I have always had a lot of self doubt, self consciousness & never felt good enough. It was time to do something for me for a change.
After 2 weeks off, I was still exhausted. How the hell did I manage a full time job feeling like this?! I was stuck in this endless loop of working hard for everyone else & barely being able to afford to live, let alone have any time or energy to do the things I want to. I just knew there had to be a better way to live. There will probably come a point where I will be unable to work, then what will I do about money! But I had no choice but to slowly start to pick up work again just to survive. That's when I came across Stuart Ross & the Modern Wealthy program. The idea of having an online business really appealed to me & I had nothing to loose! So here I am!
