Many of us who own horses have to forego holidays because we struggle to afford it or we can’t bear to leave our horse behind! But did you know, there are places in the uk where you can actually take your horse on holiday with you?! Take a look at my list below for some of the best UK horsey holidays.
Cholsey Farm Riding – This is a place I personally have been to a number of times! There are miles and miles of hacking in the beautiful Chiltern Hills ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’. You have 17 different hacking routes that are all mapped out for you, many of which have horse friendly pubs or cafes on route too! I stayed in their self contained accommodation “The Old Piggery” where you can see your horse grazing outside the back door. You can also camp out in your own tent or lorry if you’re a little more adventurous! The views on some of these rides are incredible, make sure to look behind you as well as in front to make the most of them! The owners are lovely and always happy to help if you get a bit lost or unsure which route to take. I am always recommending this place to everyone wanting a short break with their horse.
Field Farm – Based on the east coast of Lincolnshire this is one place I would love to visit. They have loads of facilities including indoor/outdoor arenas, cross country course, lots of local hacking and they are located just over a mile from the beach! You can stay in your own lorry/tent or you can stay in one of the many forms of accommodation such as a holiday home, glamping, cottage or even a narrowboat!
Hoe Grange Holidays – Located in the peak district this is another place on my list to visit. With over 250 acres of private farmland and easy access to the Pennine Bridleway and High Peak Trail, you have miles of off-road hacking to explore. With short and long routes available there is something for everyone. There’s even a ride to the pub! They offer a few different types of accommodation including log cabins and cosy little glamping pods. They even offer spa experiences to ease those tired muscles after a long ride!
If there are any more I should be adding to the list, please get in touch and let me know!
